Description

Chat Commands Helper – Help Display and Visitor Greeter Version 1.5.2 A smart, lightweight solution to both welcome visitors and display important scene commands directly in Nearby Chat. MPP – CommandsHelpOnChat helps creators guide users in two complementary ways: • an automatic Greeter system that welcomes visitors when they enter the scene • an instant help system triggered by chat command or Script Event The Greeter can automatically post a configurable welcome message in Nearby Chat and can optionally include: • the help trigger command • the joining avatar display name • the avatar handle • a direct web profile URL This makes the script especially useful for onboarding, public hubs, support areas, training worlds, admin spaces, or any experience where visitors need immediate guidance as they arrive. The help system allows visitors, staff, and administrators to quickly access your scene commands through a simple trigger such as /CommandsHelp. It can display the built-in DEFAULT help block and/or your own custom help content, with clean formatting and built-in anti-spam protections. New in 1.5: an arrival sound (a chime, a door, a bird, from the object or everywhere), and a Script Event at each arrival and each departure, carrying the avatar UUID like an Action Button click, so your lamps, doors, counters or own scripts can react to the comings and goings. All off by default, independent of the greeting. New in 1.5.2: NPCs. Sansar NPCs are seen like avatars, so the greeter used to announce them at every scene start. They are now ignored by default (greeting, arrival sound and events, help): a Detect NPCs switch lets you count them as visitors if you prefer. ________________________________________ Key Features Visitor Greeter system • Automatically posts a welcome message when a user joins the scene • Configurable greeting text • Supports {trigger}, {name}, {handle}, and {profileurl} tokens • Can optionally include the joining avatar display name • Can optionally include the joining avatar handle • Can optionally include a direct profile web URL • Global anti-spam cooldown for join greetings • NPCs ignored by default, Detect NPCs switch to greet them too — New in 1.5.2 Arrival sound — New in 1.5 • Optional sound when an avatar enters the scene, heard by everyone • Played from the object (louder near it) or everywhere at the same level • Volume 0–200 %, minimum interval between two sounds (a group arriving together rings once) Arrival and departure events — New in 1.5 • Optional Script Event at each arrival and at each departure • Carries the avatar UUID with the same data as MPP – Action Button: any script that listens to a button can listen to arrivals • Ready-made use: switch MPP – Light Switch lamps on when a visitor arrives and off when they leave Chat trigger system • Listens for a customizable chat trigger (default: /CommandsHelp) • Easy access to commands directly in Nearby Chat Script Event support • Help can also be triggered by ScriptEvents from other scripts • Compatible with MPP – Action Button or other automation systems • Allows interactive help buttons or panels in your world Flexible help display • Optional DEFAULT help section • Optional custom HelpBlock • Configurable section separator • Choose block mode or line-by-line output • Optional custom block order Message delivery options • Whisper help only to the triggering user • Or broadcast to everyone in the scene Anti-spam protection • Configurable trigger cooldown: for the whole scene when the help is broadcast, per visitor when it is whispered • Private "please wait" message with the remaining time when a request comes too soon (customizable, or silent) • Built-in message splitting for safe chat limits (default: ~580 characters) ________________________________________ Technical Details • Works with Nearby Chat commands • Optional ScriptEvent trigger support • Automatic join greeting system • Optional visitor identification in greeting message • Optional web profile URL generation • Optional arrival sound and arrival / departure Script Events • NPCs recognized by their handle (npc-...), ignored unless Detect NPCs is on • Safe automatic message splitting • Supports multiple instances with different triggers • Settings grouped by category in the Build panel (Activation, Help, Join Greeting, Arrival, Debug), optional Debug Logging • Lightweight and optimized for busy scenes ________________________________________ Example Uses • Welcome and help system for public scenes • Onboarding message for new visitors • A chime or a door sound when someone arrives • Lamps, doors or counters that react to arrivals and departures • Admin help panels • Staff command lists • Roleplay command reference • Interactive help buttons in-world ________________________________________ P.S. Only some labels change in the Build panel (the Trigger group is now Activation, the Message group is now Help). • The nine new settings (Detect NPCs and the eight Arrival settings) start off: until you use them, the script behaves exactly as before, except that NPCs are no longer greeted or announced. • As with any update, take a screenshot of the Build panel first, update one object and check its settings before doing the others. Changelog — Version 1.5.2 • New Detect NPCs switch (off by default): NPCs are ignored by the greeting, the arrival sound, the arrival and departure events and the help requests. Turn it on to treat them as visitors. • 29 → 30 settings; everything else unchanged, your settings are kept. Changelog — Version 1.5.1 • Arrival sound: optional sound when an avatar enters the scene, from the object or everywhere, with a volume (0–200 %) and a minimum interval between two sounds (2 s by default). • Arrival and departure Script Events (mpp_avatar_arrived, mpp_avatar_left by default), one per avatar, carrying its UUID like an Action Button click. • Groups renamed in the Build panel: Activation (was Trigger) and Help (was Message); "Enable Script Event". Same settings, same values. • 21 → 29 settings; all the previous ones are kept as they were. Changelog — Version 1.4.0 • Settings labelled and grouped by category in the Build panel. • Whisper mode: the cooldown now applies per visitor, so one request no longer blocks everybody else. • Private "please wait" message with the remaining time for a request refused by the cooldown. • New Debug Logging option to follow requests and greetings in the script console. • More robust sending: a busy chat no longer cuts the help short, the help ends cleanly if the visitor leaves, and the join greeting is protected too. • Your settings are kept when you update the script. Changelog — Version 1.3.8 • Improved join greeting formatting in Nearby Chat. • Prevented unwanted clickable link behavior caused by “Sansar:” in the greeting prefix. • Updated the automatic separator to a safer plain-text format. • Kept optional profile URL support unchanged. Changelog — Version 1.3.6 • Added optional joining avatar name display in the automatic join greeting. • Join greeting message now supports the {name}, {handle}, and {profileurl} tokens. • Added optional joining avatar handle display for more precise visitor identification. • Added optional profile web URL display for joining visitors. • Added configurable profile URL label for better message customization. • Improved join greeting formatting and overall visitor identification. ________________________________________ Enjoy and Keep Good Vibes.
